Electricity price increased by 89 paisa per unit

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of 89 paisa per unit in the price of electricity.

According to resources, the NEPRA Authority had held a public hearing on February 25 on the Central Power Purchase Authority’s request for an increase in electricity. The CCPA had sought an increase of 92 paise per unit in electricity tariffs in the context of the January monthly fuel charges adjustment.  NEPRA had completed the hearing and reserved its decision in this regard.

NEPRA has approved an increase of 89 paisa per unit in the price of electricity. This will impose an additional burden of Rs 6.90 billion on consumers. This will only apply to March bills, but not to Lifeline and K Electric customers.
